The Final Push

The Final Push

The last two months of the year are when most people gain between 7-12 pounds.  Will that be you?  You've been working on getting leaner this year.  You set some powerful goals, but life happens and things get in the way of achieving the desired results.  No problem.  You can set a goal for the last 8 weeks of the year.

This goal could be to maintain your current weight.  That's a great goal.  You might be fired up and set a goal to lose 10 pounds between now and January 1, 2020.  Or, maybe you're an overachiever and you want to hit your target weight before the ball drops on New Year's Eve.  Whatever the goal is, write it down, post it in front of you, and go for it.  This is the final stretch of the decade.

This decade will end and never be back.  Enter the 20's with a lighter body and more energy than you've had for the past 10 years.  It's completely possible.  Our mind is powerful and when we give it a task and have a great reason to accomplish the task, it will move us in the direction of success.

Unfortunately, I will see many people and some patients early next year who threw in the towel during November and December.  They will say that it was "the Holidays", and that will be their excuse for gaining weight.  They will be upset, discouraged, and let down when the new year rolls around.  It will then take them a month or two to get out of their funk and get back started on a proper eating plan and exercise program.  This is not for you!!

You are committed to ending the year like the end of a race.  Picture yourself an Olympic mile runner.  You've completed over 3 of the 4 laps on your way to getting a gold medal in the mile run.  You're at the front of the pack.  You've been working on this project for so long.  Do you give up now with less than a lap to run?  Of course not.  You dig down deep and remember why you are there in the first place.  You think of all the sacrifices of this past year and you start to move faster than you ever have before.

The finish line is just ahead.  You've found renewed energy and a second wind to take you through the tape at the end.  Not only will you finish strong, you will win and be standing on the center podium and everyone will be admiring your amazing accomplishment.  You look great, you feel great, and you are now ready to continue on your path to achieve a lean, fit, strong body as you move into 2020.

2020 will be your best year yet.  Your work at the end of 2019 has set the precedent for all your accomplishments in the new year.  Sure, you will enjoy the holidays.  You will be in control of the eating you do.  You will cherish the time with family and friends and enjoy a few special food treats on the actual HoliDAY.  Then every other day you will find yourself back on track to finish strong and thinner.

Come on.  Finish Strong!  You got this!
