Immersion in the Solution

 
     All in or Part-time?  OK, we said that in 2020 we wanted to drop our excess body fat and get down to a lean and healthy weight.  We sounded committed,  we really wanted it , and yet here we are in the second month of the year struggling to get on track.  What's the problem.  We are trying to do it part-time.  I don't mean you must quit your job, abandon your family, or stop having any personal time or fun.  But, If we are really going to do this, this year, we must immerse ourselves in the solution. We can't focus on the problem.  We must live every day in the solution.
 
     The solution is our daily action plan.  Yes, Daily.  We can't eat properly and perform physical activity just a few days a week.  It must be front of mind every day and action must be taken.   We will not be perfect, but we will be focused and taking action on the solution.  If you need something to help calm the appetite, seek treatment.  If you need to get an accountability partner, get one.  If you need to clear the house of unhealthy snacks, clear it.
 
     Action is what matters.  The rest is just talk.  Living in the solution means focusing and acting on the things that will truly matter to our getting the outcome we desire. This requires total immersion.  Don't just put a toe in the water, dive in. Setting a weight achieving goal, or a clothes size goal, or a fitness goal is an outcome goal.  The outcome goal cannot be attained without setting performance  goals.  An outcome will not happen without breaking it into smaller performance goals.  I cannot control the outcome, but I can control the performance.
 
     What is the performance needed to achieve my best weight and level of fitness?  Its planning our lower calorie diet and tracking it. It's establishing a physical activity plan and holding ourselves to it.  It can be logged and tracked.  It's scheduling with a doctor or coach that can help you and track you and hold you accountable.
 
     Would we treat Diabetes by ourselves?  Would we treat High Blood Pressure alone?  Would we treat heart disease by ourselves?  Of course not.  Then why do we treat the disease of Overweight or Obesity without professional help.  I realize that many Doctors and Nutrition specialists can be condescending and not very helpful.  No problem, get a different one.  After all, it's your life and your body.
 
     Decide today that this year WILL be different and that taking daily action on what matters is not a want, but a MUST.  The answers to getting the body we want and deserve are out there.  Sure, it is confusing, with all the different diet plans and myths and bad advice about weight loss.  This is for you.  It doesn't matter what your friends, co-workers, and family members think or say. It matters what we do.
 
     I personally know that this is a struggle.  I live with it every day of my life.
